“I think more people should plant more flowers in more places, to make the world a more colorful place.” ~ Alan Stevens
When we were playing tour guide the other day we saw some beautiful flowers blooming. Wisteria and Lilacs. Two plants that I love but I have never tried to grow either of them.
I love lilacs and would love to grow them but they bloom for such a short time. We wandered down the lane next to our house on Monday to see if the lilac bush at the end was blooming. What a heavenly scent. I would fill my house with these if I could. I used to have a lilac candle…I might need to find one of those again.
The flowers in front of our friend Gloria’s home are so gorgeous!
The yellow rose bush had one bloom on it when we walked down the lane. It will soon be loaded with gorgeous yellow roses. My Dad’s favorite flower. When Bob and I got married I carried 3 yellow roses.
We’ve been doing a bit of work in our garden the past couple of weeks. Trimmed the jasmine bush (that is the pile of cuttings on the ground)…the birds were not happy about this. There weren’t any nests but they love flying in there and chattering away to each other. Don’t worry it will grow back in no time.
We also trimmed the ivy that hangs down the wall of our yard.
And then there are the flowers.
I love lavender! I doubt this will be the only lavender plant that we have in our garden. I need a lot more if I’m going to be able to harvest it and make little sachets for drawers and closets.
And then there is the rose bush. Just the beginning.
“People from a planet without flowers would think we must be mad with joy the whole time to have such things about us.” ~Iris Murdoch
