Have you ever taken a leap of faith? Thrown caution to the wind? Taken a chance? Followed a dream?
If you did, did it turn out more amazing than you ever dreamed?
Five years ago, we had sold or given away 95% of our belongings. We packed and shipped 70 boxes. The remaining items we packed into six suitcases and four carry-on bags. We then boarded a plane with our one-way tickets and left the life we knew behind.
Five years ago, we left the U.S. and moved to a hilltop vineyard in Catalunya, Spain. What an adventure this has turned out to be! And let me tell you, it has turned out more amazing than we had ever dreamed!

There were uncertainties about the move. We weren’t sure how my husband’s current or future clients in the U.S. would react to us now living in Spain. Thankfully that has not been an issue at all, in fact, he is busier now than ever. A lot of the work can be done via the internet and then he makes the occasional trip back to the States when it is needed.
The change of lifestyle has given me the opportunity to follow my dream of being a writer. I have been busy learning the craft and I am close to finishing my first novel. Lots more on that later.
We have made some incredible friends who have made us feel so welcome. They have not only opened their hearts to us but they have taught us so much about their beautiful country and culture. We have deepened relationships with friends we knew before we moved here. Instead of seeing them once a year when we were here on vacation, we now get to spend quality time with each other.
The one regret Bob and I both have is our lack of becoming fluent in the language. We have not focused on that enough. I still, I am embarrassed to say, get nervous as I don’t want to make mistakes trying to say something. Of course, that is the only way to learn, isn’t it? Practice. It is a work in progress.
We love the little village in the vineyard where we live. Country life certainly suits us both. We’ve made the house our home and the garden…well we have created an amazing sanctuary garden.

Life is not perfect and without its stresses but to us, this is the perfect place to be.

Take that leap of faith…you never know – it might just turn out better than you imagined!
Felicidades por esos cinco años!!!
Como ha cambiado el patio, ahora tiene alma💖

I think what you did is absolutely amazing. I’m from Germany, and i spend a lot of my holidays in Catalunya (Torredembarra) and it’s my favourite place to be. Always dreamt about on day having a small place there myself, so you are actually living my dream. Beautiful coincidence i stumbled upon your webside. All the best for you!
