I’ve been taking time to do something good for me. Walking in the early morning. Trying to get those 10,000 recommended steps a day can be difficult when my job is to write my first novel which means sitting at my laptop for hours on end. If we don’t have errands to run during the day my step count can be a step in the wrong direction.
So, now that I am back to focusing on my book and writing stories for the second book from our writers’ group, I need to make sure I start the day getting some steps in.
Although I need and want the exercise, this walking is as much for my mind and spirit as it is for my physical well being. To start the day not on social media or reading the news but by stepping outside in nature as it awakens is the perfect way to for me to step off on the right foot.
The vineyard and property are so quiet most of the time but the early morning is exceptionally tranquil. The early morning birdsong and the breeze through the Pine trees are the perfect background music for me.
I spend these walks getting the physical exercise that I need but also stopping to take photos and working through ideas for my book or my blog. I talk to the birds, the butterflies, the bees, and the bunnies.
I stop many times and just appreciate the view. Because I do…appreciate every bit of this beautiful place we call home.

Depending on my route I sometimes get a morning greeting from this sweetie. I don’t know his/her name but I call him/her Dusty.
Dusty…cause look where he/she is so comfortable.
It feels good to be doing something good for me and I really love being able to start the day surrounded by all of this beauty. Dusty included.
