Amongst Friends, Part 3

Have you ever been invited to a gathering/celebration/holiday where you know hardly anyone? Perhaps you know a few of the people but everyone else there has known each other for years. There’s a strong connection between them. They are a family. They have inside jokes and stories about each other. “Remember when…”

If you have been invited to and went to one of these gatherings…did you feel anxious about how you might get along with the “family”? When the event was over did you laugh at how silly it was to be anxious because they all made you feel so welcome and a part of the “family”?

Well, that is how I would describe our weekend. We were invited by Kim and Virginia to share the weekend with their “family” to celebrate their collective birthdays. As I mentioned in my blog post on Saturday we were very touched to be included. But the word “touched” doesn’t even describe how we felt once we had been a part of this celebration. Honored.

On Saturday more family and friends arrived throughout the day. What an amazing group of people. There was dancing by the pool, dancing on the lawn, pool time, quiet conversations, a lot of hugs and an abundance of laughter! And there was music. Oh and lots of cava!

Saturday night there was birthday cake and gifts given and dancing until the wee hours of the morning. Bob and I went to bed at 2 a.m. but the party continued for a couple more hours.

This only brings us through Saturday night or the wee hours of Sunday morning. Wow! More to come…
