The Feast of Sant Joan took place here on Saturday. And what a feast we had! Sant Joan is the celebration and welcoming of the summer solstice. Most commonly celebrated with bonfires and fireworks it is also celebrated with friends and family sharing a wonderful meal together.
It has been awhile since we had a neighborhood gathering. Sant Joan was a great time to get together. Montse and Alex hosted a fabulous evening at their home for sixteen of us.
What a stunning setting. I’m not sure if you will be able to tell from the photos but Montse’s favorite color is purple!
We were to enjoy a movie under the stars as well.
Lots of fun and laughter.
We enjoyed incredible food and cava and wine. More importantly we enjoyed the company of each other.
Where we live fireworks, bonfires (any open fire actually) are prohibited as we are in the Garraf Massif surrounded by Mediterranean forest. But believe me we could certainly here the fireworks.
Of course we had the traditional Coca de Sant Joan. Oh so yummy.
Along with the sixteen of us there were five doggies. Here are the resident doggies.
I love this photo. Zen Dog.
Sometime around midnight we started the movie under the stars. Monty Python’s “The Meaning of Life.” It is now Thursday and I still catch myself singing the songs.
We had a fabulous time and finally made it to bed around 3 o’clock in the morning.
