The visit continues…
We had arranged for a tour of the vineyard and winery where we live for our friends for Monday morning. One of them (who shall not be named) enjoyed Sitges a bit too much Sunday night so he missed the tour. 😉 That just means he will have to come back for another visit.
We love where we live and we love our house. It is wonderful to show other people and “see it through their eyes.”
We met up with Hanna (our amazing friend and tour guide) and the four other tour guests who were from Finland. This isn’t just a winery tour. It isn’t just a vineyard tour. It isn’t just a wine tasting. It is a complete wine experience. Hanna shares the history of the area and the property. She explains the importance and process of being an organic winery.
A relic that the workers still use daily.
Hanna explaining the pheromone traps that are placed on the vines for insect control.
After the walk through this part of the vineyard we then head over to the vines located near the 13th century church. They are continually trying different methods in growing the vines and there are examples of this around the vineyard.
Hanna then gives us a tour of the church. More history of the area and the property.
We’ve had this tour before but I still learned new stuff.
We then had a brief visit to the museum which I told you about in this post.
Then it was time to tour the winery and do some wine tasting.
The guys look like they are enjoying the tour!
What a beautiful setting to learn and taste the wine.
Look at them…paying close attention to what Hanna is teaching us.
Hanna did an amazing job. The tour was about 2 hours long. The wine tasting is much different than what they do in the U.S. where they line up the bottles…and you are told a bit about the wine and then taste. This is an education and a discussion. It is an experience.
The visit continues…
Looks like a tour the MAWW members would enjoy. 😉😉
