The joys of living in wine country…surrounded by vineyards meant another Saturday of wine tasting. Well, actually Cava tasting. Yesterday we wandered up to the castle on the opposite hill from us for the 2nd Gran Reserva Cava event. Our neighbors Kim and Virginia joined us as they did for the Gran Reserva Cava event last October.
As with the premier the event showcased about 20 small to medium cava producers from the Penedès region. They would be sharing about 50 varieties of gran reserva cava. Gran Reserva in Spanish wines means that these wines are aged for two years in oak and three years in the bottle.
It was difficult to choose which cava to taste next but we persevered. We probably sampled 8-10 cavas. Some we really liked and some that really weren’t our style. As you can see it was a gorgeous day and the setting…well…perfect.
A lovely way to spend a couple of hours with great friends. We bought a couple of bottles to tuck away for special occasions. 🙂
Cheers to another fun wine event.
What a lovely way to pass the time!
