Yesterday we attended “A Day to Experience” here in our village of Viladellops. The Marquis Marcelo Desvalls (the owner of the Viladellops estate) opened a museum of his family’s history here in the village. “Els Desvalls i Catalunya . A noble Catalan lineage in history”
“All the main episodes of the history of Catalonia included the prominent participation of a member of the Desvalls family, as well as the other assimilated lineages, therefore it can be said that it is a family of capital importance.”
We were able to sneak into the museum before the grand opening and have a quick look around (snap a few photos) before being ushered out. I had planned to go back inside after the ceremony but it was pretty crowded and I figure that we live here and can go another time. There is so much to see and read and WOW! I wish I knew my family’s history this well.
Following the ceremony of the dedication of the museum there were other activities happening.
Finca Viladellops and Clubhouse27 jointly held the grand opening of “La Cantina del Pueblo” which can be rented out for special events. This is a beautiful restored building in the village.
To add to the fun of the afternoon they had Segways and horse-drawn cart rides through the vineyard.
How cool is this?!!?!?!? I loved it!
Below are my two favorite photos from the day. What life used to be like here in Viladellops.
We had a fabulous time and met some amazing people. As I said in yesterday’s blog it was an incredibly historic day in the little village we call home.
