Why does time go by so quickly? I remember when we kids we were told to enjoy the freedom and time while we could because once you became 21 years old time will just fly. Truthfully being twenty-one was a long time ago for me so I’m not sure I remember time suddenly speeding up. Now is a different story. Seriously I don’t know where the days go.
To be honest it doesn’t seem to matter whether we have a long to-do list for the day or think we will just meander through it before we know it the day is gone.
Yesterday we tried to make good use of some free time by relaxing on the beach. Because of other commitments and the weather, we hadn’t been to the beach since the beginning of last week. Wow, what a difference a week makes. The tourists have gone home and the beach was empty. The temperature has made a nice change over the past week. The exact reasons why we always came on our holiday here each September.
It was absolutely perfect.
Our afternoon and evening were not so perfect and truthfully extremely stressful. You see, it doesn’t matter where you live…if you have to deal with the outside world life is not going to be perfect. So, to get out of the moods that the outside world had inflicted upon us, we wandered outside with our glasses of red wine to look at the vineyard.
We sat there and talked about life and what we have no control over and the fact that at least we are living in our happy place. Somehow that helps a little. We just need to take the time to remember that.
As we turned around to look the other direction we noticed the full moon rising. Absolutely, breathtaking. It had to be shared so we texted our neighbors. They joined us along with their precious doggie, Goku. Goku is one of the happiest dogs we have ever met. I swear he always has a smile on his face.
Today, our time was not spent on the beach. Today, we went to Sitges as Bob had a dentist appointment which cost an amazing 24.80€ ($29.55). Love the health care here. Spent the next couple of hours running errands around Sitges. I got my haircut, we scheduled Bob’s written exam for the Spanish driving license and scheduled the medical exam needed for the exam. Then home with an afternoon filled with a long to-do list.
Time has flown by today once again. It’s now 8:30pm and I am writing my blog. I think to keep our sanity we need to take time each day to enjoy it. Even if it is some little part of a crazy day. The sunrise, the sunset, the moon rising.
Many years ago Hallmark® created note-cards and t-shirts with this sentiment. I bought both my Mom and me the t-shirts. And I still have several of the note-cards. I decided to put the t-shirt on tonight. It is always a reminder to me of what is important.
Good advice. M
