Exploring, Sitges

The capitals of Pere Jou

There are many little treasures you will find while wandering the streets of Sitges. The capitals of Pere Jou are just one example. As you meander down this beautiful lane your will see them on each side of the street.

I’ve read that many of these are depictions of his co-workers of the construction of the Marciel Palace, that was being built by American millionaire Charles Deering, or other citizens of Sitges. How wonderful it must be to pass by one of these and know that it is the image of your relative…well, if it is a favorable likeness I suppose. I only wish that they were at eye-level not farther up so that you can really take in all of the little details.

On our first couple of visits to Sitges, I remember walking by these and loving the characters. On our vacation here in 2015, we made a point to stop and take some photos. I must go back as I know I missed some of them.

The one below is one of my favorites as it depicts the phrase, “put one’s foot in it.” Surely, we have all done that and had this expression on our face.

There are some that I do not have photos of yet that I will share with you at a later time.

  1. Hi Xan…and the old guy too…love your blogs!

The one yesterday on customer service, and or the lack of same was right on. Perhaps some day, people will understand why customers leave their companies in large quantities.

Have fun in your new adventures.
