Weekly Photo Challenge: Place in the World

WordPress Weekly Photo Challenge.

This week’s photo challenge is “Place in the World. For this week’s photo challenge, explore what it means to find your place in the world. Where’s your safe space? Where do you go when you need to feel inspired or cheered up?”

What does it mean to find your place in the world? Is that different from finding yourself? Does it mean finally deciding what you want to be and do with your life? Does it mean the place you arrive at when you follow your dreams. Hmmm….if that’s what it means then THIS is my place. Following my dream of writing and photography.

Does that mean the place you love the most? I have lived many places yet I can tell you that most of them weren’t my places. They didn’t feel like home. In fact there are very few places that we have lived that have felt like my place. Where we live now is one of the few.

 

Safe space? That has changed over the years for me as it probably has for you. The first and obvious one is in my childhood home with my family. After I grew up (I use that term lightly) I still remember that there was nothing like walking through the doors of my parent’s home and being embraced in their open arms to remind me that they were always my safe space. I miss that now they are gone. Thankfully my safe space for the past 25 years has been anywhere my husband Bob is. I know he feels the same about being with me. Guess that’s why it feels safe, huh?

Where do I go feel inspired or cheered up? hmmmm. A walk in the vineyard or a walk  on the beach are perfect for both inspiration and to put a lost smile back on my face. Being out in nature never disappoints when I need inspiration.
