This afternoon Catalonia declared independence from Spain. This is an historic day.
Spain has now voted to invoke Article 155 which means they will impose direct rule over Catalonia. There are many steps that can be taken under Article 155 and we will just have to wait and see which measures they do use. I’m not going to go into what those are as I really do not want to speculate on what is going to happen.
I will tell you as I have before that some of our friends are very much against Catalonia seeking independence and some are very much for independence. It has split families. It has split friendships. It is not a younger generation vs. older generation. Both sides obviously have their reasons.
For some a time of celebration and for others a time of despair.
For everyone it is a time of uncertainty.
