Happy New Year everyone! I’m a little late writing this post and it isn’t what I had in mind for my first post of 2020. But…that’s life sometimes. Things don’t always go the way you plan.
Bob came down with a cold on Saturday night and as much as I tried to avoid getting it Monday night it got me. Ugh.
In an effort to get some fresh air and get out of the house, we went for a walk on the beach on Tuesday and said farewell to 2019. It was so beautiful and the fresh air did us good. But not enough to make us feel great. (Okay, we didn’t expect a walk on the beach to cure our colds)
We rested that afternoon and then made the smart but sad decision not to go to our friend’s house next door for the annual NYE dinner party. We weren’t feeling great and didn’t want to share our germs with our friends. 😦 Well, it turned out to be the right decision as we both felt worse that night. And just as we knew it would…the new year arrived while we were asleep. But just look at what our amazing friends did for us!
New Year’s day, we packed away all of the Christmas decorations and just rested. Yesterday, we both got some work done while coughing and going through several boxes of kleenex. lol.
It is amazing how a cold can just knock you down. Not a horrible illness and we know it will go away but wow…one minute you think you are feeling better and then wham…downhill once again. I think we are both hoping for a good night’s sleep as we haven’t had one in almost a week.
So, I haven’t been out for my morning walk since Monday! I miss it but also know I need to get better and rest is important. The Almond blossoms are starting to bloom and I can’t wait to get out and take some great photos of them. It is early days yet so there will be plenty when I am feeling better.
I was going to write a great inspirational post on New Year’s Day but well…not feeling very inspirational at the moment. Watch out when I do though! I’m excited about what the year ahead will bring!
I hope you all had a good time saying goodbye to 2019 and that this year has started well for you. We have a blank slate ahead of us. We can make this year whatever we want. Well, I’ll start on that when I feel better. In the meantime, here are the last photos I took in 2019.
Feel better soon! I can relate to not feeling so hot – I can’t wait to get back to my usual walking routine!

May you both be on the mend by now!
I loved the word picture with the waves wiping away 2019 and leaving clean sand. 💕

Happy New Year! I loved seeing the beach scene washing away the words when you posted it on Instagram. Sorry to hear you both caught a cold. My husband had one for NYE too, and now I have it, so I can relate. You did the right thing by resting and recovering. Your friends are so fun, that was nice of them. All the photos made me smile – I see all white where I live, so yeah…I’ve got that going for me and encouraging me to stay inside and rest. I hope your year is a wonderful one!!

Thank you for sharing them – that is a stunning tree. The blossoms remind me of our flowering crab trees in a way. I’m glad to read you’re feeling better and that you took time out of your to-do-list day to take photos of the tree! I hope you have a wonderful weekend!
