We’ve had a busy social life the past few days so I have much to share with you. Today I will start with Saturday’s fun.
In April 2018, Marquis Marcelo Desvalls (the owner of the Viladellops estate) opened a museum of his family’s history here in the village. “Els Desvalls i Catalunya. I wrote a couple of posts about it:
A Peek at “A Day to Experience”
On Saturday morning they held an event to showcase some changes to some of the documentation in the museum exhibiting the original drawings for the creation of the Laberint d’Horta gardens. The Desvalls family created the gardens on their own private estate. The family donated it to the City of Barcelona in 1970 and it has since been open to the public.
The event included a reenactment of the family commissioning the architect(s) by actors and a presentation from Marcelo, historians, and the local government representatives.
In addition to the changes to the museum, they also displayed the historic family carriage. The carriage dates to the 1790s and has been used by royalty and dignitaries when they visited Barcelona.
I must say that finally being able to see the carriage (we’ve known for a while that it had been moved here to the village) was the highlight of the event for me. It is absolutely gorgeous!
Of course, there was wine tasting involved.
What a wonderful way to spend a few hours.
Stunning! I like the pompous looking re-enactors. They look serious and very well dressed sitting there listening to what will be.
The carriage is incredible. What beautiful artistry in its creation. It’s still vibrant and working, too. 💕💕💕

Yes, the actors were great. Very into it.
The carriage is stunning. The inside (which was not open to us) is silk and velvet.
