Wednesday, we headed over to Sant Sadurní for a tour of Freixenet Winery. Bob and I did the tour back in 2013 when we were here on vacation. We were glad to see it was still a great tour.
The cellar descends 40 meters (over 130 feet).

Cork tree bark. It takes 9-10 years for the bark to grow back after it is cut and the tree is not harmed by this process.
In case of an emergency, the path will be illuminated by lighting to lead you to the open bottle of cava.
We took a train to the production area of the winery.
A beautiful village. This area has somewhere around eighty Cava cellars. We have more exploring to do.
Worldwide they sell eighty million bottles of cava per year! We are not drinking enough!

Following the tour, we went to our friend Joan’s restaurant, La Posada. We had taken Dani to his other restaurant, Les Piques when she visited us a couple of years ago. She had to have the cheese on the hot rock again.

As the sun was setting, we had a walk in the vineyard.
Thursday, their last day here, we wandered around Sitges for a couple of hours and then had lunch at Sausalito Beach before lounging in the hot sun and having a swim or two.
We ended the day with tapas and wine at home. They had an incredible four weeks traveling around Portugal, Spain, and France. We’re glad they stopped by our place twice on their travels. Yesterday morning they started the long trip home to Australia and by now they at home sweet home.
